HOLIDAYS are coming - and Canterbury is one of the destinations.

Coca-Cola bosses are planning a tour with the Christmas truck used in their popular television adverts and will bring it to Canterbury on December 22.

The truck will be parked in Whitefriars, and fans can have their photo taken with it and pick up free cans of the soft drink.

A spokesman for Coca-Cola said: "It will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland where you can get up close to the truck and have a keepsake photo taken.

"Later you can download the photo to wish friends and family a Merry Christmas, by sharing on email, Facebook and Twitter.

"Plus, our Christmas helpers will be serving chilled Coke and Diet Coke to the sounds of seasonal music."

The locations were chosen after the firm surveyed 2,500 people about kindness - the 'kindness hotspots' that bring the most joy to others are included on the tour.

Canterbury could otherwise be lacking in festive cheer after council bosses scrapped Christmas lights this year.

Being as the City Council will not be funding any Christmas Lights in the City this year perhaps they could arrange instead for this truck to be hijacked and driven continuously around the City until 12th Night! Kent Police could then supplement the lights with their own magnificent flashing blue and red ones as they followed the truck and the city dustcarts could join in with their flashing orange ones! One silly thought though. Please could the police sirens be modified to play a selection of Carols instead if their usual offerings.
